Joomla............

Joomla! came into being as the result of the fork of Mambo by the development team on August 17, 2005. At that time, the Mambo name was trademarked by Miro International Pvt Ltd, who formed a non-profit foundation with the stated purpose to fund the project and protect it from lawsuits. The development team claimed that many of the provisions of the foundation structure went against previous agreements made by the elected Mambo Steering Committee, lacked the necessary consultation with key stake holders and included provisions that violated core open source values. Features The Joomla! package consists of many different parts, which allow modular extensions and integrations to be made easily. An example of such are extensions called "Plugins". (Previously known as "Mambots".) Plugins are background extensions that extend Joomla! with new functionality. The WikiBot, for example, allows the author of Joomla! content to use "Wikitags" in Joomla! articles whic...

10 tips for success.

1. Find Yourself It's so hippie dippy but practical. The hippies were on to something good with this one. Stop trying to be someone else. You have useful things to offer. Own it. 2. Work Hard Don't be lazy. Hard work pays off. OMG I sound like someone's Mom! 3. Be Nice to People There's no need to be mean, in words or thoughts. Reason 1: Karma, duh. Reason 2: Regression. When mean thoughts occupy your brain and not-so-nice speech pours out of your mouth, you slip a few notches on the psychological development chart. 4. Get Sleep Your brain and body need sleep to perform at the level you want so give it to them. 5. Eat Healthy  Same thing with sleep. Give your body good food, not junk. 6. Do Yoga  A yoga practice helps you "stay you." Following your breath in meditation and moving with your breath in yoga class helps you notice what you are. Which (surprise) feels pretty good, leads to happiness, and allows you to succeed at being you. 7. Be Conscious Practice ...

Twitter is Awesome

Image
Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 bytes in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can send and receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS (receive only), or through applications such as Tweetie, Twitterrific, Twitterfon, TweetDeck and Feedalizr. The service is free to use over the web, but using SMS may incur phone services provider fees. As of March 2009, Twitter has received extensive visibility and popularity worldwide. Twitter is often described as the 'SMS of Internet' in that the site provides the back-end functionality (via its APIs) to other desktop and web-based applications to send and receive short text messages often ...

Flash and SEO - What do you think...? from search engine journal

Flash movies can be a great thing. They can help catch eyes that are otherwise bored with static looking pages, and they can help tell a story better than plain text. However the use of flash must be tempered with the ability to rank in search engines. This article describes some of the considerations and recommendations when using flash on a website. Disney does it. And so does Oprah. Even my favorite pizza place does it. That is embed their primary navigation and important content inside a flash movie. In fact in all these cases, a good part of the sites home page is flash, rendering that section of the page invisible to search engine crawlers. Granted these are extreme cases of sites which use flash extensively, but there are other cases where even a little flash can be improperly used. There are also cases where flash is not only appropriate, it is recommended. The question then becomes how to best use flash without affecting search engine rankings. Much like the early settlers of ...
